A stylish tribute: Mississippi teenager honors her late father by attending prom in a stunning custom dress with his picture on it so he could be 'with her' at the dance

  • Kedrian Woodruff, 17, went to her prom this month in Canton, Mississippi
  • She wanted to find a way to include her dad, who died suddenly from a blood clot when she was 13
  • She got a dress maker and T-shirt printer to make her a custom dress with her dad's face on the skirt

A Mississippi teen grieving the loss of her father found a special way for him to not just see her off to prom, but to come with her.

Kedrian Woodruff, 17, was preparing for her senior prom at Canton High School in Canton, Mississippi this month when she had the idea to pay tribute to her late dad with her dress.

So Kedrian and her mother enlisted a local dress maker and T-shirt screener to custom-make a gown for the big dance that prominently featured her dad's face along the skirt.

Kedrian was 13 in 2013 when her dad passed away due to a sudden blood clot in his longs.

'It's still hard to this day. We are still dealing with it,' the teen's mom Tiffany Woodruff, told InsideEdition.com.

As the prom neared, Kedrian wanted her dad 'to go with her,' and her mother helped her make it happen.

'She said she wanted to honor him with this dress. I wasn’t sure it would be possible but I wanted to make her happy,' her mother added.

'I was kind of mushy because I think it was very thoughtful of her to get her gown designed like that, the designer said.

The finished product was a mermaid silhouette, high-necked with a keyhole cutout over the chest and an open back.

The long sleeves, top, and thighs are covered in blue and silver sequins, and the flared-out skirt features a photo of her father, pictured among the clouds in heaven.

'To see the smile on her face was just priceless' her mother said. 'She was truly a daddy’s girl.'
