There are streets across Wales with property price tags at an eye-watering level which makes them among the most expensive roads to call home. However online property portal Rightmove has looked at data for 2024 to work out the most valuable streets in Wales, based on the number of properties sold so far this year and those currently up for sale.

All three streets are in Cardiff and Newport and they might not be the residential roads you were expecting to see. There's no sign of Abersoch, Penarth or Cyncoed, Cardiff, which usually appear on house price lists, but this is due to the infrequent house sales on the streets in these areas. Instead, this Rightmove data is based on streets that have had five or more properties for sale so far this year and they’ve been rated on average asking price.

Looking at the data from a UK perspective it's not a surprise to see London addresses dominating with Buckingham Gate in Westminster revealed as the most valuable street in the UK, with an average asking price of £9,633,333. Next most expensive outside London is The Ridgeway in Cuffley, Potters Bar, Hertfordshire, with an average asking price of £2,289,286, and in third place is Manor Road in Chigwell, Essex, where properties are currently on average listing at £2,219,444. But back in Wales there are three streets that fit currently the sales quantity criteria that Rightmove used to analyse the data so far in 2024.

There are some streets in some Welsh cities, towns, and villages that are so distinctive they can claim to be called a landmark road and are well-known to many, if not most, local residents. But there aren't many streets in Wales that can claim to be such a landmark location as Cathedral Road in Cardiff.

It is an address that sits within an exclusive group of prime real estate justified by an outstanding position in a popular area, short supply of homes, and proximity to a unique selling point such as a park – and this street has it all.
