UK households are set to receive four Cost of Living payments, totalling £300, in June and July. Amid a challenging financial climate across the nation, UK households will be given a much-needed boost with four new Cost of Living payments.

The government confirmed earlier this year that these payments would be distributed, providing a significant uplift for households. The upcoming payments will be issued on specific dates to assist individuals with their shopping needs, following the renewal of the scheme by the government.

These payments will be made in June and July, offering a welcome enhancement to household finances. The Household Support Fund, renewed in the Spring Budget and Spring Statement by Chancellor Jeremy Hunt, will be used to distribute the support via local councils.

Mr Hunt had been under pressure to keep the HSF beyond the end of March. Earlier this year, during the Budget, he said “now is not the time to stop the targeted help it offers”.

He had faced calls from council leaders and many MPs. The Government extended the fund with an extra £500 million.

Mr Hunt told the Commons during his Budget speech in March: “Next, the Household Support Fund. It was set up on a temporary basis and due to conclude at the end of this month.”

He added: “I have decided that with the battle against inflation still not over, now is not the time to stop the targeted help it offers. We will therefore continue it at current levels for another six months.”

It has provided £2.5 billion of welfare support since inception in 2021 via local authoritie. It helps vulnerable people with food, water and energy bills.

One UK council has announced that it will issue £75 supermarket vouchers to Council Tax Support recipients and pensioners between June 3 and June 13. Additionally, a disability payment will be made between June 17 and 26, followed by payments to all other households, excluding those with one child, on June 28.

Families with at least one child will receive their support on July 18, as stated by the authority in Wakefield: "The Government has provided additional funding, known as the Household Support Fund, to help with important things like gas, electricity and food during April 2024 to September 2024," reports Birmingham Live.

"This funding will be used in the ways described on this page." They further added: "The Fund will also provide support to vulnerable households in most need of support to help with significantly rising living costs; particularly those who may not have received any other forms of Cost-of- Living support."
