“The First Universalist Church of Lewiston had an unusual evening Wednesday when a Russian drama by Essex Dane, ‘When the Whirlwind Blows,’ was presented to a large gathering. The parts were taken by Mrs. Philip Pottle, Mrs. Wilis Abbott and Mrs. Edwin Pierce. The little play was very well given in a manner truly professional, bringing out some splendid acting and fine characterization. Mrs. E.H. Carritt must be complimented on her coaching it.”

“The accolades and jokes were flowing nearly as fast as Bob Mulready’s famed run-on sentences in a farewell to the longtime Lewiston city administrator. Mulready was feted by friends and family at Martindale Country Club Friday, the last day of his 10-year span of service to the city. The Connecticut native is returning to the Hartford area where he’s opening a real estate and municipal consulting business. The move signals the end of 30 years in public service.”

We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
For those stories that we do enable discussion, our system may hold up comments pending the approval of a moderator for several reasons, including possible violation of our guidelines. As the Maine Trust’s digital team reviews these comments, we ask for patience.
Comments are managed by our staff during regular business hours Monday through Friday and limited hours on Saturday and Sunday. Comments held for moderation outside of those hours may take longer to approve.
