Officer stabbed, person shot in officer-involved shooting in Baldwin County, police say

BALDWIN COUNTY, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - An investigation has started following a weekend officer-involved shooting that resulted in an officer being stabbed and a person being shot.

According to the Milledgeville Police Department, on Saturday around 9:15 p.m., patrol officers responded to a call in the 100 block of Moore Street - inside Milledgeville Estates Mobile Home Park.

Police say while officers were speaking with family members, a person charged at them with a knife and stabbed one of the officers multiple times. A second officer stabbed the person while the other officer was being stabbed.

Both the officer and the stabber were taken to hospitals for treatment, where police say they are in stable condition.

Milledgeville Chief Swicord has requested the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) to investigate the incident. All other information will be released by them.
