MISSOULA – Anticipation is in the air for Pearl Jam fans as the Seattle grunge band will take the stage at Washington Grizzly Stadium in Missoula.
It will be a little mix of politics and rock music at Monday night’s show.
Montana native and bassist Jeff Ament is returning to Missoula to show support for Senator Jon Tester (D-MT).
But before the sold-out show, the band hosted a free, public festival at the University of Montana to promote the some of Ament’s favorite nonprofits.
It’s not all about music as the festival offers games, art, food and an entertainment stage curated by Forward Montana and the ZACC.
Pearl Jam helped organize the event, but other groups were involved including Forward Montana, Montana Conservation Voters, Montana Native Vote, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Montana and 25 other Montana-led progressive festival partners.
The event offers a special platform for some organizations something they hope to use to inform people of their mission.
“This is a really great opportunity that the band has, such a high profile and is bringing folks from across the country, even internationally, to this,” said Ta’jin Perez, Montana Native Vote Program Coordinator and Communication Director. “So it does provide a very unique opportunity that I don’t think we were necessarily planning for in Montana and that doesn’t normally come this way, so we’re very grateful for that.”
