The FA have vowed to investigate reported violence involving England fans in Seville ahead of the Nations League match vs Spain on Monday night.

Riot police dispersed the travelling supporters following reports some fans had vandalised cars during a drink-fuelled night of anti-social behaviour.

Video emerged of England fans being chased in the city with The FA moving quickly to condemn the behaviour and outline their intentions to combat the shameful antics.

"We condemn the unacceptable behaviour witnessed in Seville," read a statement from The FA.

"With the Spain fixture still to come on Monday night, we urge those following the team to respect our hosts and act in a responsible manner.

"The FA will work in partnership with the UK Football Policing Unit to help identify those involved and we will sanction any England Supporters' Travel Club member found to be responsible for disorder."

Riot police had to intervene to fire warning shots in the air as the situation threatened to spiral out of control, provoking a mini-stampede among some of the England supporters out in force last night ahead of today’s Nations League match.

There were no immediate reports of any arrests or serious injuries.

Around 3,000 fans have travelled to the southern Spanish city.

Deputy Chief Constable Mark Roberts, Britain’s top football police officer, urged the supporters to be on their best behaviour yesterday/on Sunday and said it would be “incredibly disheartening” to see a repeat of the drink-fuelled clashes that marred England’s last visit to Spain three years ago when English hooligans fought each other in the streets.

A small number of fans appeared to ignore his pleas last night after a day of drinking by going on a wrecking spree in the city centre around Paseo Colon and Avenida Reyes Catolicos, two of Seville’s main streets.

One hooligan could be seen using his left foot to kick off a wing mirror as he walked past a parked car as fellow supporters chanted football songs.

England fans run away

A bottle was thrown at a passing car surrounded by the group of men as they advanced along the street.

Moments later they were filmed running towards the scene of an apparent confrontation involving police and England supporters, before sprinting back in the same direction shouting ‘England, England’ as officers fired warning shots into the air to disperse them and stopping to regroup on a street corner.

One fan - dressed in shorts and a T-shirt - was recorded picking up a bar chair and sitting down in the middle of the road briefly as he blocked oncoming traffic.

A number of others were filmed grabbing chairs from pavement restaurants as riot police arrived and holding them menacingly above their heads in the air, although seconds later they sat on them and started to take selfies.

Local media branded the incidents “disgraceful” and said they had ruined the good atmosphere Seville had anticipated ahead of the match.

British police say they have a team of officers in Spain working with local counterparts.

Mr Roberts, the National Police Chiefs' Council Football Policing Lead, said: “They will also be gathering intelligence, and anyone seen to be misbehaving could not only face being arrested and charged for offences in Spain, they could also be subject to a football banning order on their return to the UK.”
